I guess Finn and Jake are over their fear of copyrighting? When they get there, Marceline introduces them to her three Ghost friends: Wendy, Booboo and Georgy. Coming right after Video Makers, this is funny. I didn’t realize they were legitimately angry with each other until they made BMO pick whose footage to use, and that’s barely a minute before we see BMO’s montage so it wasn’t enough time for me to care.įinn and Jake are going over to Marceline’s to show her a movie: Heat Signature. I didn’t even get the sense that they were fighting for most of the episode, they were disagreeing with each other but at most it seemed like they were just mildly annoyed with each other. Finn and Jake’s fight wasn’t vicious enough for the ending to be all that powerful. I might be able to get past the cheesiness of it because BMO’s singing voice is so darn cute, but even ignoring the cheesiness it feels like a really weak ending.

Really, the whole episode is pretty great until you get to the ending. I especially enjoyed the scene they filmed with Bubblegum in the chariot, it backfires is the most unexpected and hilarious way. Finn and Jake film some scenes, they go horribly wrong in comedic fashion.

Other than these interesting bits, the episode is really simple. They actually thought they were breaking the law! Maybe that was a joke directed at anti-pirating laws? It’s kind of adorable that they could misunderstand it so badly. It’s funny to see their reaction to that world, so to speak, when they read the FBI warning and didn’t understand it. Speaking of the apocalypse, we now know that at least some remnants of the pre-apocalypse (is that a thing? Who even says “pre-apocalypse”? Apparently I do) world are in Ooo, and that Finn and Jake have found some. I have no idea what the Mushroom War is but I think it’s safe to bet that it’s what led to the apocalypse. I had already picked up the name “Mushroom War” elsewhere, but this is the first time I remember actually hearing it mentioned in the show. This episode is the first to mention the Mushroom War. But there are a couple of things that are interesting. Everyone loves it and Finn and Jake make up.įor the most part this is a very straightforward episode, albeit a hilarious one.
#ADVENTURE TIME VIDEO MAKERS MOVIE#
When BMO shows Finn, Jake and the rest of the movie club goers the film later that night, it turns out to be a touching montage of their friendship to convince them to stop fighting. When they finish filming, they have BMO edit it into a movie, telling him/her/xir/it to use only the best footage. And I don’t think either of them knows what the plot of their movie even is, none of the scenes they shoot seem to be connected. They promise not to, and decide that they should film their own movies to show at movie night.įinn wants the movie to be an action-adventure movie, while Jake wants to make a romantic comedy.

The others are upset about this and beg Finn and Jake not to cancel movie night forever. When they read it, Finn and Jake are afraid that they’re breaking the law for showing the movie, so they cancel movie night. Before the movie starts, Princess Bubblegum notices the FBI warning against copyrighting, something that Finn and Jake had never taken notice of before. The episode begins at Finn and Jake’s Tree Fort, where they’re holding their weekly movie club meeting where they show old movies they found from before the Mushroom War. Yeah, I’m doing Video Makers and Heat Signature together, Mortal Folly and Mortal Recoil will be together in the next review.
